The Airfield etc

On 8 September we revisited the former sperm whale and added a few photos to the post about that.  We then continued to walk around the loop and Frances found some spider orchids (Caladenia tentaculata) well out on the peninsula.

C. latifolia was evident in the dunes.  (I have no idea Why my computer changes the colour on orchids to make them much bluer,)
Then I got a text reporting a Banded Lapwing at the Airfield.  Sure enough there it was!
We then went for a drive along the Gun Club track finding a few orchids flowering.  Several Glossodia major  (nothing like the thousands of flowers last year).
Quite a few, albeit scattered, Diuris pardina.
As an excitement one yellow form of D. orientis.
