The track opposite the Pony Club (TOPC) etc

I used to call this track Poo Pits 2 as it eventually ends up at the Waste Water Treatment Plant (but is secondary to another track with that destination.  However the Wednesday Walkers described it as per the title, which is possibly more acceptable in polite company!

The main reason for visiting was to spot Southern Emu Wrens which one of the group had seen there recently.  A male was seen quite promptly but was very uncooperative in the matter of photographs.  The plants were better behaved.

Aotus ericoides
Ricinocarpos pinifolius - Wedding Bush (que?).
The larger specimens of the above are quite spectacular and readily visible as one drives by.
Xanthorrhoea resinosa is beginning to send up flower spikes
 Pimelea linifolia.
Persoonia juniperina.  The leaves suggested this species and on referring to Flora of Victoria the colour of the fruit (a drupe rather than a berry) confirmed it.
This is a different species of Epacris: E. obtusifolia rather than E. impressa.  The 'folia' gives the clue that it's the leaves that are important.  Also the flowers are always at the white end of the palette, so pink or red = impressa.
In the afternoon I went for a ride to the Powerlines Track (opposite the start of Karbeethong Rd) in search of a Leek Orchid (Prasophyllum sp,) that was coming in to flower.  I didn't find that, but two Thelymtra ixioides (Spotted Sun Orchid) each had one of several flowers fully open.
 A nice set of measles.
There were several spectacular bushes of Boronia mulleri along the forest side of the track.
