Descendants of dinosaurs (mainly)

The day started with another visit to Stingray Point to check the Topknot Pigeons.  I first saw 2 birds perched in the huge Angophoras ...

... but when they flew off they were joined by a third bird.  They seemed to heading for Mullet Creek.

Many Rainbow Lorikeets enjoying blossom.
White-headed Pigeon
A Little Wattlebird appears to have visited a bird bath or fish pond!
Many people regret the deletion of "Turtle" from Spotted Turtle Dove.  It was felt the acronym was appropriate.  However in this area they seem to coexist happily with native pigeons and doves.
The first Eastern Blue-tongued  Lizard (Tiliqua scinoides) of the season visited the garden (and eventually the shed) yesterday.
In South Australia these were called Sleepy Lizards, and this one was certainly dozy.  It let me get closer ...
.. and closer.  I think the lens was about 5 cm from its nose!
We have lots of these small skinks around the garden  I think they are Common Garden Sunskinks (Lampropholis guichenoti). These photos were taken on good zoom as these reptiles don't allow close approach.

While looking for pigeons I noticed a large lump in a tree.  Of course when I came back an hour later to show Frances it had gone.
