A pair of swans expressed their view of the noisy neighbours, heading up the Inlet
Towards 0830 (the time slated for high tide)the level of the sand was getting very close to the level of the water. A bunch of Silver Gulls were exploring the margin, doubtless finding a late breakfast.
Discussions were obviously needed about the final stages of the dig.
The bulldozer was sent from the field.
While its little mate seemed to be finding some water.
Looking closely at this image the water can be seen starting to flow out.
By this time I think everyone - probably about 40 of us at CSP - was feeling cold and the show was pretty much over.
A couple of hours later at Bastion Point a good sand slick was evident going out to sea.
All the Tonkas were back at the foot of the steps rebuilding the sand road to get the vehicles over the rocks.As we walked along the beach the waves had been carving sand away, revealing interesting stratification with layers of seaweed and ash from the fire.
A very good flow from the Inlet ...
.. through the channel. I can barely wait for Mallacoota Fake News to establish a white water slalom training course here.
The sea didn't seem to be happy about the invading inland water.
The water was carving the banks wider as we watched. A salutary reminder not to get too close.
A Great Egret explored the vegetation .
