Bats of 4 March 2023

We were nearly fooled tonight!  Looked down at the Inlet and no bats visible.  Que?  I then looked up at patch of unclouded sky and there they all were!  This first image is 20:00:08 (ie 8 seconds past 8pm.

This image was taken at 20:03:28 and indicated the way the flight was getting sparse by that time.
It died down much more over the next few minutes, suggested the flyout lasted about 10 minutes.  This suggests to me that the camp is still around 4-5,000 bats.  By way of contrast, in March 2018 when the camp was 100,000+ bats flyout started about the same time relative to sunset but they were still pouring out well after dark, over an hour later and visible against the full moon.

On 4 March the flight was mainly heading towards Fairlight although streams were also aiming for Captains Creek, Lakeview and into town (perhaps Shady Gully?)
