The sunset looked promising for spectacle on 8 July, with low cloud and a gap on the western horizon. And so it turned out.
At the start (1636 hours) the view to the NW, looking up the Narrows towards Nungatta Peak, was a little cloudy but pleasant in a Brigadoonish fashion.

By 1639 the mist had cleared to Nungatta.
The colour begins to intensify by 1648.
